Sandringham Estate (5 km) www.sandringham-estate.co.uk

Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty the Queen, and has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs. The house is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk - and certainly one of the most beautiful. Set in the 60-acre gardens which have been called "the finest of the Royal gardens", with a fascinating museum of Royal vehicles and mementoes, the principal ground floor apartments with their collections of porcelain, jade, furniture and family portraits are open to the public from Easter to October.

Norfolk Lavender (4 km)

The largest lavender-growing and distilling operation in Britain. Different coloured lavenders are grown in strips and harvested in July and August. Also herb gardens and a fragrant Plant Centre make this a beautiful experience..

Titchwell RSPB Nature Reserve (9 km)

A firm path takes you to three hides and on to the beach where a platform overlooking the sea is suitable for wheelchairs. A colony of avocets nest on the enclosed marsh with gadwalls, tufted ducks, shovelers and black-headed gulls. During the year many migrant birds can be seen in the beautiful surroundings.

Sea Life Aquarium & Marine Sanctuary (1 km)

With over 30 fascinating displays of marine life, this fascinating aquarium offers close encounters with starfish, sharks, octopus, eels and many other underwater wonders.

Park Farm (7 km)

Lambing in the spring, sheep shearing in May and deer calving in June and July are all features for visitors to Park Farm. Sheep, lambs, turkeys, ducks, chickens, piglets, rabbits, goats and ponies wander round freely in the paddocks.

Castle Rising Castle (16 km)

A fine twelfth-century domestic keep, set amid huge defensive earthworks, once the palace and home to Isabella, the 'She Wolf' of France, dowager Queen of England.

Fakenham Race Course (30km)

Racing in West Norfolk had always been honoured with Royal patronage. Commencing at East Winch with The Prince of Wales later King Edward VII, through to Her Majesty the Queen who was Patron for almost fifty years before handing over the reins to HRH The Prince of Wales on January 1st 2000. It is particularly fitting therefore that Fakenham's most extensive project, the £1million Members' Stand was named "The Prince of Wales Stand" and officially opened by His Royal Highness on March 15th 2002.
